Steel round rod for pushbumper

Would 1" carbon steel 1144 steel round rod (solid, ASTM A311 spec) be overkill for a push bumper? How hard is it to weld or bend?

2008 Jeep Liberty KK W/Selec Trac II, ADL Skid Plate Group, 245/70/16 All Terrain Destinations, VisionX LED Floodlights. It's a real jeep. Don't like it? Wait let me check. Yep, still a real jeep.

It'll bend with an oxy acetelene torch but imo its not an ideal material for what your doing. I'd use DOM tube instead. You could probably get away with schedule 40 pipe but DOM would be better.
