standard radio vs. touch screen hard drive..?

Hey

I just bought a new 2010 Liberty Ltd, pretty loaded but no navigation

anyway, I have the MyGIG touch screen hard drive radio in my 2008 Avenger, and I'm wondering...

my Liberty did not come with the MyGIG since I didn't opt for NAV, but has the satellite radio feature. Now...can I add the MyGIG radio without changing any wiring, etc.? In other words, if I get my hands on the unit is it a bolt in? Anyone know?

Thanks!

JS

Due to the way all the components are linked into the computer, it won't be just a bolt-in. You will need to take it to a dealer and have them reprogram the computer to talk to the new radio. Other than that, I imagine it would physically be a bolt-in swap, but I have no idea whether it requires a different wiring harness or not. I'm kind of curious about this myself, as I would like to upgrade from the basic radio to a MyGiG NAV system someday. Dealers can of course install the full upgrade kit, but that will be expensive.

I bought my KK with the base stereo radio Two months later I got a REN high speed no nav on ebay for $295. It was removed from a 2008 charger. It is a plug and play. NO DEALER to steal your money.

15 minutes to remove old radio and install the mygig. Installed the satellite antenna and had howard stern.

Remember if you get a non nav unit, you get more storage space for music.

below, the connector layout for all MYGIGs is the same, if you have these connector and matching BUS speed, just plug it in

I bought mine 2 years ago, but click below and look for a NON NAV REN HIGH SPEED mygig unit. Don't be discourage if you can't find one for under $300, I have seen new ones list for $2200. Yep I thought that was insane too.

Click below and read up on the different models of mygigs, the specs and the different bus speed for different vehicles. The mygig in your avenger will fit in the liberty, but it will not turn on. Why? Different bus speed (digital communication) high speed in the liberty, low speed in the avenger.

Thanks! I didn't realize that mygig is basically just a Chrysler thing.
