Rear hatch won't lock

I've searched here and Google and can't find an answer. The liftgate won't lock with either the remote or the switch on the door. All 4 doors lock and the rear glass locks but not the hatch. It's a new (to me) car so I can have it fixed under warranty but I'd like to go to the dealer with some information in hand. Has anyone had this problem?

same thing has happened to my Libby. After about two weeks, however, the liftgate now will not unlock. I cannot even open my tailgate. I am taking it on a trip next week and it would be great to access my suitcases and all from the rear side of the vehicle, not through the back doors with the seats down. I also tend to carry tools and furniture and hockey sticks and I have not been able to do that easily either.

I am going to try the "emergency access" button/lever/whatever for now before I take it in. Unless anybody has any advice or ideas on what is wrong.

FWIW, mine still will not lock consistently. I have had it "fixed" and soon after it was out of whack again. I guess they had to adjust the latch so it would lock properly... it lasted only a short time though. What I have noticed is that it did eventually "fix" itself... for the past few months it has been locked when appropriate when I have checked it. I don't often use the hatch (mostly I use the rear window) and when I do it is usually only when the car should be unlocked. Good luck with yours and report back if you find a solution.

Mine has been sticking a lot lately. I was using the emergency access, and I finally just gave up. I'm pretty sure that it is just going bad and needs to be replaced.
