Rain effects on my Jeep

A quick question. I live in FL, we had a downpour today on my way home from work. Deep standing water in roadway and traveling at 10 mph with flashers on. My 2008 Jeep Liberty was running fine until we went thru the rainstorm. It died on me, battery lite came on. I lost power steering, and it overheated. After sitting and let it cool down some I barely made it home. It now sits in my garage hopefully drying out. Could it be all the rain that caused the belts to slip and possibly make the fan not work? I also have disconnected the battery cables so the computer can reset. Iím at a total loss and have to leave for work at 6:15am.

Thanks for any light that can be shed.http://www.jeepforum.com/ubb/frown.g...dLgWGNnFD9.gif

Sorry to hear that. Wake up a little early and see how it is when you start it up and drive around the block. Not sure why you'd lose power steering and the battery light come on at the same time. Did it ever stall out? Did it go in limp mode?

I don't know what limp mode is. I did get up extra early drove it around the block. She started up fine but still no power steering. My lord what did we do before it was invented? Didn't drive it enough to see if overheating was an issue. No work for me today as I'll have to work on this later in morning. Thanks for the input.

Let us know.

Curious as to how your KK does after thoroughly drying.

I actually had to have her towed to the Jeep dealership. Still no power steering this morning after drying all night. We'll see.

Maybe it failed. Was it allowing you to rev the RPMS on demand or were they limited?

Yeah, did you open the hood to see if the belt was still on there?

Thank you all for your posts and help. Tjkj2002 hit the nail on the head. It was the belt but better yet the water pump busted therefore throwing the serp belt off. Thanks again one and all, I'm glad I joined.

A friend of mine went through a large area of water in a car and threw the belt right off.
