No Heat... Help!!!

I hope someone can help me. I own a 2009 Jeep Liberty. Recently the heat stopped blowing hot, actually, the air that blows through the vents isnít even warm. If I put the dial to defrost I get enough heat in the Jeep so that I am not ice cold but if I turn the heat to any other setting, I get nothing but cool air. Yesterday I noticed that the coolant reservoir was bone dry so I filled it. Later that day I read on here about taking the radiator cap off while the Jeep is cool, running the vehicle with the radiator cap off with the AC on until the vehicle gets hot then pour coolant directly into the radiator and then top off the reservoir (they said itís called burping the system). I did all that and still NO HEAT. I donít have a leak anywhere that I can see... Did I do damage driving around with a bone dry reservoir for who knows how long?? My Jeep never overheated so I imagine there must have still been coolant in the radiator. PLEASE HELP!
