no headlights
 
Most of the time my headlights are not working on my 2010 Liberty. The problem started about a week ago. No other issues with anything electrical. They malfunction in both manual and automatic. Running lights are fine.

The following DTC codes have been scanned:

B162 F
B162 B
B 1637
B 1633
This covers both left and right and high and low, control circuit low.

Is there a separate front control module from the TIPM ?

Check for an intermittent (you said most, but not all of the time) condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals.

B162F-RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW
When Monitored:
With the Headlamps activated.
Set Condition:
When the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) detects a shorted low condition when the right low beam is on.
Possible Causes
(L44) RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
RIGHT LOW BEAM BULB
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)

B162B-LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW
When Monitored:
With the Headlamps activated.
Set Condition:
When the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) detects a low condition.
Possible Causes
(L43) LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
LEFT LOW BEAM BULB
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)

B1637-RIGHT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW
When Monitored:
With the High Beam Headlamps activated.
Set Condition:
When the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) detects a low condition.
Possible Causes
(L34) RIGHT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
RIGHT HIGH BEAM BULB
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)

B1633-LEFT HI BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW
When Monitored:
With the Headlamps activated.
Set Condition:
When the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) detects a low condition.
Possible Causes
(L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
LEFT HIGH BEAM BULB
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)

The wiring all looks good as far as I can tell. Any idea where I could find the information on which terminals go to the headlights from the TIPM? A wiring diagram would be great.

I believe that I have resolved my issue without having to purchase a new TIPM. I would be happy to share the details with anyone that may be interested.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just got these same 4 codes
today. Lights flash a few times and quit. Can anybody give some
advise on where to look, cabling, etc. I have a warranty, but my
stealer ship sucks and try to avoid seeing them unless I have to,
plus it will save me $100. Thanks.

i happened to me.
when turning the lights on they flashed few times and then off.

i got TIMP replaced and problem solved. have extended warranty other wise it will cost you around 800-900 dealer installed. part is around $650

i searched a lot anf found that is very comun in many Chrysler vehicles.

you can to reset the timp, it worked for me for two days.
The Electronic Control Module, or ECU as its commonly called, stores the information for your vehicle and your driving habits in its memory. The memory is maintaned by a series of capacitors that hold a charge and maintain power for the ECU when the vehicle is turned off. The following procedure will allow you to reset the memory and allow the computer to 're-learn' how to drive by adjusting to the drivers habits and the vehicles modifications.


1. Disconnect the battery by removing the positive battery cable. Remember, the positive battery cable.

2. Ground the positive cable to the negative cable for 30 seconds to erase the electric charge in the capacitors.

3. Reconnect the positive cable to the battery.

4. Turn the key to on but do not start.

5. Turn the headlights on.

6. Turn the headlights off.

7. Turn the key off.

The ECU has now been reset to its factory settings. For the next 50 warm-up periods the ECU will re-learn the engine and driving habits for your driving conditions and the newly installed parts.

some people replaced the headlight switch that is thermo protected, and it often fails shooting the lights off.

others disconnected the whole timp and cleaned connections with connector cleaner and re installed and it worked in some people.

I wiggled the connectors under the TIMP and they are working again, but 2 days later the key fobs stopped working. Made an appointment.

I did the ECU reset also, but how do you tell if it reset? All of my memories were still there, radio, seat, trip odometers.
