Hey everyone, I am new to the jeep world, and have more questions then answers at this point lol. Here is the deal, I live on Long Island and am looking for a vehicle that will handle the winter snow storms and that will also be good for occasional summertime tips on the beach and perhaps some trail stuff upstate.
This will be my daily driver and I will be commuting about 45 miles each way 3-4 trips a week. Fuel milage is obviously not the best with these trucks but thats ok with me.
1) I am trying to decide between the 2011 KK possibly either the limited or 70th anniversary models, or the 2012 JK unlimited. I am sure that either vehicle would fit the bill for my needs, but what are the pros and cons of each?
2) I have been doing some research on the availability of aftermarket parts for the KK and havent found a lot, if I go that route I am thinking of a 2.5 -4 in lift with some more aggressive tires and wheels, and maybe bumpers and a roof basket. Do these exist? Are there a lot of choices in this matter?

i would say dont make a mistake that i made, my wife drives the KK to work every day with a roundtrip around 45 miles. thats one fill up a week. each one is around 80$
for you it looks like it might 2x of that. are you ready to have your gas costs to be around 600-700 a month?
i currently spend around 350 a month on gas for the liberty, it being a daily driver. dont get me wrong, i love the car and it sure is a keeper and i was planning on keeping it for quite some time, till the wife found this job away from home. now i just got her an elantra and i need to get rid of the KK. it is an awesome car but its def not a daily driver.

That was one thing that had crossed my mind, but in reality I am only making that trip at a max of 3 days a week usually, and I get paid mileage at least 2 of those days as well, so I am ok with subpar fuel mileage I guess lol.
The JK and KK get similar mileage anyway don't they?

Aftermarket is pretty limited. A little bling, a little black, a little lift, and a few great suspension packages. There are a few people working in bumpers...front and rear. But, given the weight load limits of the Liberty you would need to be careful. If you added good heavy front, rear bumpers then toss on a winch your weight limits could be reached before loading any passengers.
On the other hand, limited aftermarket ain't a bad thing. If you have ever owned a CJ, YJ, TJ or a JK...you should know what I mean. There are way to many aftermarket items to try. That is where the meaning of JEEP comes from.."JEEP=Just Empty Every Pocket"

i dunno man, i commute in JK just fine, it has all the same creature comforts, minus the leather and the heated seats. the only complain in the noise but then again it has 32 inch MTs
I don't know I've driven many JK's from bone stock to well modified and they all ride like s**t in my opinion,just feels like death wobble is comming on at any moment.My 10" lifted SFA'd on 35" MT/R's KJ rides like a caddy compared to even a stock JK.
