New to the Jeep Liberty Family, I have questions

Hello,

I recently purchased my new 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport last saturday. It had 20miles on it, when I drove off the dealership with it.

I've always been a 'pick-up man'...and decided to cross into "unknown territory"; when I purchased this Jeep Liberty.

So since I'm new to the Jeep Family, I have a few questions:

1. Does my new 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport have cruise control?? Noticed I couldnt find it, 2 hours after I drove off the dealership with it...lol

2. When my jeep is in idle, it makes an unusual and VERY noticible "clicking sound"...is that normal??

I am an EMT in my area, so I hope to load videos and pic from some of my 911 calls in my new jeep.

Here is my first one I made this past week:

name my Liberty, "Jenny" as you can tell in my vid.

Thanks for the help!

Congrats on the new Liberty!

Cruise control: If you have it will be on the steering wheel, on the lower right. It is a little rectangle stalk. If it's not there you probably don't have it. :(

The ticking: Yes, this normal. All the 3.7s do this. :D Drive it and forget it unless it gets really loud. But the ticking should be in time with the motor speed. It's not a problem, just your Liberty letting you know it's running! :D

Good luck with it!

THANKS for the response!!

I feel a lot better about my jeep now!

Thanks for helping a jeep rookie like me!!

I hope I am not intruding on this thread, but I was too have a Liberty KK Sport and do not have cruise control. Would it be possible to install it? If so, where might I find out how, since if it is possible I know that price at the dealership will be a rip off.

Thanks for the info. I just bought a 2011 Liberty Limited and was wondering about the ticking, too.

My 2009 KK Sport w/ 3.7 doesn't "tick" at any time; you can barely hear it at idle. If anything, it just "purrs" or, maybe, "humms" very softly. Should I worry?

Welcome! Great Buy! perform the routine maintenance and resolve the recall issues and you will enjoy your liberty:cool:

Possum and Cmlohff, My sport does not have cruise control, so on my long trips on I-75, I get the car up to
70mph, I have a piece of pvc pipe, I would wedge it between the gas pedal and the drivers seat, and walla!!! A poor man's cruise control (not recommended),

How ever I do recommend this from http://www.thecruisecontrolstore.com...g/X380183/0012

very good price. I would like to do an install of it.

This is the install instructions. FOLLOW STEP BY STEP THOROUGHLY.

Remember: All 2008 and up (KK) libertys have "drive by wire" which essentially is computer controlled. The PCM, or ECU or computer is bulletproof but susceptible to failure. Follow all instructions to a T

Now when you say you don't recommend this, you mean installing cruise control myself? Would it be possible to get the dealership to install it?

He's referring to the redneck pvc pipe style cruise. ;)

Ticking noise - Ive noticed most of the liberties make this noise. Sometimes I can barely hear it in mine, others it sorta kinda sounds like a sewing machine.

Cruise Control - You can buy that from the mopar website, it looks like they give you a whole new steering wheel.

It was not a slab of pvc!!!!! It was a 20 inch long 1/4 pvc pipe. I used it twice. my wife complained alot about it on the way back, she was asleep when I first did it.

In the original post I clearly stated Not Recommended.

To everyone: If you skeptical about doing a mod on your vehicle, DON"T DO IT:thumbsup:

I like to live outside the box, but cautiously...... I did not reach 45 yrs of age by doing dumb ****
