My door lock buttons randomly dont work. any help?

So recently my door lock and unlock buttons (the ones on the driver door) stopped working and i would have to press it a few times to unlock the door and today it wouldnt work at all. the doors make a sound that sounds like if you press the lock button when the doors are already locked. i pressed the lock and unlock buttons a ton of times and i eventually just unlocked the doors manually. Any ideas what might be causing it or how to fix it?

I haven't torn apart my door yet myself, but it's doing the same thing. Pressing the unlock button will act as the lock button for the first 5 or so presses. Hasn't annoyed me enough yet, but I suspect a loose connection.

I have the 4 volumes of dealer service manuals at home for the 2008 liberty. I will look up the wiring diagram, see how it works and get back with you.

Try the TIPM. People say that goes bad and affects the door.

The wife took the jeep this morning to go for a run with some friends, so I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet. It looks like the whole switch assembly on the door just pops right out with a little prying. The book gives pins to test on the harness and the switch assembly. Unfortunately, as Eagle stated above, the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) controls everything with relays and sensors to see if the doors are already locked and such. I'll have to get back to you later once I get my hands on it. The TIPM is located directly behind the battery.

Yeah sorry I should of spelled it out more but I was on my phone doing it. I had the TIPM relpaced on while trying to solve the Chime problem KKs are known for. I have seen bunches of threads on this problem so look them up for more info. Good luck with it.
