My Build thread

Figured I'd start a build thread as I use it for three different things and balancing them might be interesting to chronicle.

1st setup DD:
2010 limited Stock plus:
Curt hitch
OEM tow hooks up front.
OEM skid plates.
OME lift kit (measures about 2.5 inches)
Firestone destination AT 245/75/17 tires
Full sized spare.
OEM roof rails
First aid kit + tow strap in rucksack in trunk.
How can I move the pics here?

2nd Setup: ADVENTURE!
DD Plus:
THULE Crossroads roof bars (65") BARELY fit over the sky slider and can't open it when it's on.
North Shore Racks NS-4 hitch mounted bike rack.
With this setup I can (and have) fit 4 mountain bikes, 1 canoe and luggage for 4 in the back. Makes a great go and explore vehicle.
Need to take pics.

3rd setup: Off Road
DD plus:
-Air damn
+ little will antenna and CB radio
+ hi lift jack (need a good way to mount)
+ tow hook in hitch
+ hi lift jack off road kit w/ tree savers and 25' of recover chain.

Upcomming goals:
mounting plates for front hooks.
upgraded gas skid plate
hi lift mount
way to mount CB in car.
adapter to mount canoe sideways so i can fit my friends kayak as well.

I'm trying to use this in three different capacities which some see as frustrating but I enjoy the balancing game when i'm making decisions. It's kinda fun that with some small changes I can really change what it's setup to do.

Looks good. Where in NY are you? As for a hi-lift, you pretty much need sliders or metal bumpers. You might be able to use AtTheHelm's front recovery system for it. I honestly don't remember...

I'm from West Babylon, we are actually pretty close. I found a Hi lift mount that looks like it mounts to the roof rails that looks promising. Or did you mean I need sliders to use it? In that case Uh oh.

Think he means to use it! He is right though, if you don't want to spend the Money on a steel bumper, AttheHelm makes a great front recovery system that it can work on as he displays in his thread.

Btw, where did you get/install the OME lift. Do it local or yourself?

Well this is going to require some thought. As far as the lift goes picked up the kit on Jeepinbyal and got it installed by my local mechanic Bentley motors (it's his name not the car company) can't tell you the price because i got alot of stuff done at the same time.

I did the install myself on the lift, really easy. The hardest part was the upper a-arms lol.

Anyways, yea we're really close. I'm in West Babylon a lot since my girlfriend lives there. And I meant to use the hi-lift. We don't have anywhere to really lift from since the bumpers and skirts are plastic. If you wanted to use it as a winch, then it'd work perfectly since you'll have tow points.

I did get it to use as a winch and bought the kit to do that easier. I'll have to rethink getting rock rails and maybe they go higher on the list. Is it useless for changing tires when you aren't stuck due to plastic body issues? If so the rails may need to happen alot faster. Nice to hear there is another jeeper around close.

You do not need rock rails or steel bumpers to use a hi-lift but you will need a lift-mate:

the lift mate looks useful for being stuck but i wonder how i'm going to change a flat. Did pick one up on your suggestion though as it's on sale on amazon.

I know it's really late notice, but Rock Lizard is having a sale that ends the 20th on their sliders. $335 instead of the $395. I got a shipping quote of $100 for Lindenhurst(11757), so I can't see it being much more for you.

There's always JCR offroad sliders, or custom fab. Rockyroad also offers sliders for the KK, but most will tell you to stay away from them.
