Major Noob Q

First Post, First Jeep!

Been a LONG time fan, just TWO days ago I bought my first Jeep, an 08 Liberty Sport. PUMPED

...anyway what I think is the Malfunction Indicator Light (yellow, to the left of the gauges) came on today...frick. Dealership told me they put new plugs in it because as they were washing it for delivery the light came on, they replaced the plugs, light went out, light is now back on.

Any quick checks I can make before bringing it back into the dealership? Going to try filling it up with new gas and tightening the gas cap...I've had it for two days grand total and its already living up to its name

Thanks

...Oh and I tried the search function but didn't find anything too specific, not sure what protocol is on here re: that.

This walkthrough is from diggerfreak, try this and see if you can get a error code to post up here

1. Enter the jeep, shut door.
2. Put on the emergency brake and tranny in "Park"
3. Hold down trip button.
4. Turn key to "ON" position and let off the trip button.
5. You will get a light show along with dancing gauges!
6. Do not start the car, Once it is done running its system checks the gauge cluster will return to normal and you can be on your way!

This checks that all gauges and lights are functioning normally.
The important thing is to watch the odometer.
It will have codes coming up.
When it shows a code starting with "p" this is your error code.
for example.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I am out of town, but had my GF try the protocol and all she could get to show up is an hr number...

Ill have to try for a P code when I get home. What is the hr?

Hmm no idea, just make sure when you turn the key over and the show finishes dont start it, let it return to normal and hopefully it will show a P code

You may want to compare the dash to the owners manual to determin what the warning is. Could be a low tire pressure indicator.
