Liftgate Window Latch issues

One of our Jeeps has a an issue with the liftgate window latch.

It won't work period.

When you press the key for the window it won't budge
and when you start the car it lets you know it in the
mileage window flashing gate door.

It obviously screws up the lights inside and the illumination
of the dash at night.

We were told at the parts dept at the dealership that the
latch was no good. So we purchased the part and put it in.

Still doesn't work but the light now go on when you enter
vehicle (which didn't happen prior) and now they won't
shut off automaticly.

Has anyone else have any issues like this?
Any idea what is going on?

I think its a fuse or sensor of some kind.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you sure its the window latch and not the liftgate thats the problem?.On my 08 KK,if the window is open it shows glass on the odometer, not liftgate.

Yes,that was going to be the next step. You will have to check your wires at the module by the latch and make sure you have power going to the wires, also make sure there is a good connection, unplug connector, then plug back in,If latch doesnt work, then most likely bad module.

I dont have the specs, but if you have power going to the module, and nothing works, then most likely its a bad module. The module attaches to the latch.I looked at mine today, and could see the module, but the rear panel looks like it will have to come off to check it.

I have a dumb question, isnt there any warranty left on your KK?

the car responds when he hits the window open on the key by blinking its lights.

i guess i'll have to call the dealership to find out what they
have as far as a replacement module or something.

can't find much of anything online except that its seems to be a common issue.

No warranty as far as we read since we are 2nd owners of vehicle.
Yeah you have take off the panel or pull back on it to even get to the latch.

OK here's a thought.
I picked a parts guy brain.
But I want a 2nd opinion.

Rchrd you mentioned on the odometer that when the window is open it say's window in the odemeter.
where our say's gate.

the guy mentioned that the actual gate door latch has a sensor that communicates to the window
latch and could be an issue?

before i go out and spend $66 on a part I want to make sure.

what do you think?

First about the warranty,if its used and you have under 36k on your KK,you can transfer the remaining warranty to you.On the gate door latch, thats where I was getting confused, because if it was the window it would say glass,if it says gate, then it would be a problem with the gate sensor.
