ummmmm the heat gun i used only had high and low settings I suggest using low first and building up some heat, then while wearing gloves and holding the fixture turn it to high and move around the piece. DON'T let the gun sit in one place for long or you will melt the casing. After a few passes set the gun down and try to pry the pieces apart. The tool i used was just a putty knife and i used it to get a little leverage on the sides of the light. With a little patience you could be able to finish this relatively stress free.

Edit: forgot to mention. before building heat. take the gun on low and the putty knife and warm up the little tabs all around the light one by one and push them over the black nubs. This will allow you to pull the piece apart much easier.

On reassembly its just the reverse. I did not reuse the silicone that was inside I ripped it all out and put a thick bead of silicone(was four dollars at advanced auto parts but i don't recall the name i think it was for sealing windows) I recommend however getting two tubes

its tinted all round, but would love to go darker, pity the 5-0 crack down on it pretty hard here. stripping all "hard plastic" like mirrors door handles etc to have them sprayed, along with the chrome moulds on the doors etc. mesh the grille, a few other bits and pieces, getting there..... !
