KK Liberty 2012 Sky Slider Question

Hi All,

I am hoping to get some input from people with 2012 KKs with the Sky Slider.

I am in the process of purchasing a 2012 Arctic and pretty excited.

Spent some time on google and searching this forum, most of the complaints and issues I can find are in reference to 08/09 models. Can anyone attest to the 2012 either being better and more durable or also suffering the same issues with noise and mechanical failure?

When I first saw the soft top and sky slider I wasn't sure what to make of it. It's an amazing feature but made me a bit worried about noise/repairs. Any input or testimonial would be great!

Eric

Have had 2012 w/skyslider for exactly one day and love it so far! Search the posts and don't get freaked out (like I initially did). I am going to find a wind deflector and will report back after I source it (apparently it's difficult to find the right size). I am also going to do the weatherstrip trick and grease the tracks religiously. Finally, I am going to tell my daughter to never open or close while traveling above a few MPH.

Good luck. It's a neat truck so far.

Grease it well and if you drive through an area with frequent sand or dust storms don't have it open. Mine died after a drive through West Texas.

I love mine. I use it every clear day over 40*F (yes the heater keeps up lol). I don't open or close mine over about 30mph unless it starts to rain while I'm on the highway. I need to grease it again, but idk where to get the grease...

And yes it's loud at highway speeds, but you get used to it. It's not any louder than a soft top Wrangler or soft top convertible.

a sky slider is louder then my solar panel on my roof? that sucker is 2 1/2" thick and is horizontally reinforced hence the noise. which isn't any more noticeable then no solar panel.

Take a ride in one. They're pretty loud. Stock radio wise, I have to have it set at about 15 for it to be a nice level vs the top. It's the price you pay for open air freedom, and frankly I'm OK with it.

Mine was really loud before I had it replaced. Now, it's just as quiet as any other car. Not sure why/how, but I don't need to push the radio to hear it like I used to.

Thanks for all the input! Brought the beast home last night, couldn't be happier. From my limited highway time thus far seems like over 80 you start to get the above average noise below that it doesn't bother me at all. Granted I drove my last car with a Thule roof box on it at all times. Upgraded infinity speaker system in the Arctic edition helps too! Few pics, loving the extra details of the Arctic package

Gotta get settled in and start researching lifts. I def want to but also do a lot of highway miles for work so need to figure out best balance. 4 days in and couldn't be more stoked to be back in a Jeep, and loving this one specifically.
