Thanks! That's what I was going for with the exception of that stupid red cap! Lol. Was going to paint the mount white to but shouldn't have made a difference since the spring was chrome!

That plus the fact that I think I deff need to go bigger. Probably wouldn't be to much of an issue right now but once I put the basket on topi am going to have to clear that. Just not sure if I'm going 3' or 4'.

Sorry you had a hard time getting the wire thru. I didn't have that issue when I routed mine. Did u start from the front and work your way back and then through the vent to the outside? That's the way I did it and it was a breeze, hardest part was snapping everything back together. But I guess it doesn't matter at this point since you got it!

I went from the rear vents forward. Would slide in nice. I would be able to head it were I was expecting it but think it kept feeding between the sheet metal. Would never be able to see it under the molding. Finally I went through a little hole in metal near the cent and that fed it through the plastic molding. Once I found it the rest was a cake walk getting it the the center console. Now I have to figure how I want to mount the antenna box. It has a nice plate to actually mount the mic cable ad make it look professional, but not sure if I want to make that kind of hole in the console or not. Especially if I decide I don't like the radio itself. Unless I mount the box elsewhere and mount the adapter somewhere else.

There's a of somewhere of someone who mounted all of that in the center console underneath where the gear shift is. Don't think he needed to screw it thru the plastic so it was a clean install. Might be on this thread or on lost. Can't remember, but it's a good option

Yea I have read that. That's was how I followed the antenna installation. I know he can gust run the mic cable around the console with no drilling (which is what I will probably end up doing. But the 75 comes with a bracket to mount the mic attachment cable on the antenna box to a piece of the consule so it would be like a factory install an can just disconnect the mic. Think it would be a nice beat look however you need to drill a pretty large hole in the plastic to do this. If I don't like then I will have a hole the size of a quarter in the plastic.

How are you guys bolting these brackets in? Is there a way to get a nut behind that panel? Are these just screwed into metal? I have searched the forum and cannot figure this out. I am a little concerned with screwing straight into metal without tapping or using a nut. thanks for any replies.

Just screwed right into metal. I also covered the hole with silicone before screwing bracket on. Is very secure.

My only issue is that I think I mounted it a little to low. I am getting a slight rub against the tailgate and just noticed this weekend I am getting a little rust stain in the tailgate.

So same mounting screws the bracket comes with, drill holes a little smaller than screws, silicone on screw holes and screw right in? No problems with the bracket being to flimsy? Not worried about holes worping? Not worried about dummy's flinging the antenna or it hitting something and worping the holes? I am not saying this wont work becuase obviously there are people who have done this and have not had issues. If you guys say its good I will call it good and order up a 2' stick with it. Just a little nervous is all and want to atleast use the same procedure everyone else did so I don't poop this up.

Well for starters, I deff recommend a spring. I have the 2 ft firestik as well. I can not vouch for over time, mine has only been on since December but I can say it is as tight as it has been since the day I installed it. There are deff a few who have had it much longer who recommended to me this install and have not given me any reason to believe of any complaints of this.

What I can say is I am actually looking to go a little bigger. At least going to get the 3ft firefly (since it is lighter than the original firestik) and actually considering the 4ft. The two foot works great for a short range. Would be perfect if your looking for close communication. However, it only sits about 5 inches over the roof (radio antenna actually sits higher than my antenna). I plan on installing a roof basket so have to make sure I clear that and then some. Hopefully the little extra height will provide with a little better output and reception.

Well I am convinced. Next paycheck its a go. I think I may just get the 3' firefly from the get go since I can always take it off and leave the mount on the vehicle as needed. Thanks for the info, this sight is amazing.

Does anyone actually have a decent photo of their rig with the 3' and 4' Stik? Curious to get an idea on how high it will sit over the rooftop. Want to make sure that im not going to think the 3' is to small once i put the basket up there.
