How to replace driver's side headlight bulb?

So... I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The regular beam headlight bulb burnt out. I bought a new one... however, I'm apparently not mechanically inclined...

Could someone break down the directions for replacing the bulb in a first grade level?

Thanks so much.

stick your hand in and turn? I swapped mine out and I remember there was something special you had to do with pushing tabs or something to that effect once you took the bulb out of the housing.

1. Remove the battery. THIS IS OPTIONAL! I remove it to gain better access to the bulb connector. (nuts are 12mm)

2.Remove the 10mm battery "tie down" bolt. ( arrow)

3. Headlight bulb connector (green)

4. Grab hold of tabs ( yellow arrow) AND TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE, pull towards you.

5. Pull out red tab on connector to remove bulb. When installing new bulb, DO NOT HANDLE GLASS END OF BULB!

Wow! This is super helpful. I shouldn't have to replace mine for a long time, but bookmarked this thread for when I do!

One very important thing to add

Be sure to remove the "old" "O ring" from the original light bulb or the new light won't fit.

Thank you for writing out all the instructions they were very helpful.

But the fog lights seem WAY harder to reach. Is there an easier way to replace those?

I too got the super white lights - they are a lot better then stock lights. Many reviews of the Liberty cite that as a con and I can agree - I burned the fog lights all the time until I got the new bulbs. It is worth the investment.

The driver side, remove the battery and the fog lights can be easily removed

Just have to say, that was the EASIEST thing i have ever done on a car. took me 3 minutes to get the new headlights bulbs switched. I did my fiancés subaru impreza and that required taking off the front bumper and removing the whole headlight assembly just to reach the bulbs:brick wall. Now i have the silverstar ultras and i did the drivers side first and looked at the difference between the two bulbs and you can definitely see that the ultras are brighter and not as yellow. can't wait to test them in the snow storm we are about to get here tonight!
