How much mileage before oil change on a 2011 Jeep Liberty?

I have had 4 people tell me 3k and 4 people tell me 6k...

Usage is prob 60% freeway 40% city.

I am just over 3k at the moment.

I have 6 prepaid oil changes that the dealership gave me coupons for.

PS: The jeep is beeping at me when I start it (just one *ding*) then on the mileage display it flashes the words "oil change". I believe it has been doing this since I passed 3k.

Then you need an oil change and you need one now.

Made an appointment to get it changed at the dealership service center next week.

Will probably have around 3,600 miles on it by that time.

Does the oil change indicator monitor anything other than just the mileage?

IE: Oil levels?

Is there a reason we should buy into the oil change indicator's recommendation when there is an obvious incentive for the company to set it low to facilitate $ to their service dept. via early oil changes?

The oil life monitor in your KK bases the oil chnage interval on how you drive, harder you drive in bad weather(extreme hot or cold, extended idling) will turn on the oil chnage light sooner and normal conditions it will turn on at much longer intervals. It's not mileage based, just based on your driving habits and weather conditions.
