High beam indicator light

While driving at night I like to adjust all dash lighting to minimum visable. I feel this allows me to have my eyes adjusted to see dimmer lighting outside Jeep. But the blue high beam indicator remains at max intensity and feels like a small flash light shining into my eyes. I have been trying to hold one of my hands on the wheel to block the indicator when high beams are on, but this is not at the 10:00/2:00 position where I like to hold the wheel. Is there any way to adjust this high beam intensity? I have even considered placing a piece of black tape over the indicator.
