Happy with my new mpg

Just wanna share my new mpg:
2009 Limited, stock no mods, with 36k miles.
Was 13:14 mpg city, maximum of 17 mpg highway.
I did the following:
1- oil & filter change.
2- air filter change.
3- spark plugs change.
No noticeable more mpg, then:
1- Throttle body clean.
2- injector cleaner into 3/4 fuel tank.
Now:
15:17 mpg city & 20 : 22 mpg highway :)
Happy with it :)

throttle body clean eh, I need to look into that. My spark plug change+injector cleaner was disappointing on the MPG side.

Stock type paper works best, K&N waste of money and actually lets more dirt in

Gotcha. By stock, does it have to be the paper type specifically from a dealer, or just the paper type that fits your vehicle from any local auto store.

An auto store will have the correct filter to fit your Jeep

Same here! It scares Prius drivers, too.

22.9 mpg highway

22.9 mpg highway, S.F to L.A., AC on most of the time, via Hwy 99 (Not I5).

almost 50,000 miles on the ODO, bone stock, 2008 Liberty Sport.

Manual transmission (6 speed)

I remember when I got those kind of numbers! Pre-roof basket, lift, and Duratracs. :D

I like my K&N drop in. If it's properly cleaned and oiled, no problem

tommudd 07-21-2014 03:08 PM

Yep, had one ( K&N) for over 20,000 miles, and yes properly cleaned oiled etc ( ran them on some older 4 wheel drives ) , better mileage and less dirt in the tube when I swapped back to stock filter
