Good tires for KK?

Hey all,
Total newbie here. Just got my first Jeep in February and I'm really getting sucked into the culture. Haha.

So anyway, I'm looking around for new tires and I really want to try and find the perfect combo between off road ability and on road comfort and quietness. I'm somewhat of a weekend warrior off-roader, and since this is my only car, I want to maintain good on-road capabilities.

My KK Has the P235/65R17 stock goodyear tires right now.

I was looking at the Michelin LTX A/T 2 tire but I can't find many reviews on them.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Try Discount tire or the Tirerack.

Hankook Dynapro ATM tires...best tires I have ever owned on a Jeep. I would trade you mine for your stockers since I might be trading in my liberty, but I see you have 17'' wheels, so that won't work. lol

Just a side note, hope the both of you didn't get flooded out by Irene.

Thanks!! I'll look in to them.

We got some flooding in the area, but my home was fine. I got the chance to drive the liberty through a 2 foot deep puddle. So much fun! Haha

Nope, these are some very quiet all terrain tires.

Also rollin on the hankooks, and I love them as well! No road noise for me either. Definitely recommended!

We replaced the stock Goodyear STs with Uniroyal Liberators. A good bit more aggressive, quiet, and very affordable. 50,000 mile treadwear as well.

Been on the WK/XK forum mostly, but I thought I would check out the KK side. Your Liberty looks good. Are those Black Rock steelies? Wife drives a 2011 Liberty Limited that I think would look sweet with a lift and maybe some silver/chrome steel wheels (or alloys). She says she doesn't want it lifted and I am in the process of building/lifting our WK - so any KK mods are an unfunded line item at this point.

When you guys put different rims on did you just use your old tire pressure sensors? Also, did you have to get hubcentric rings?

I'm in the market for tires as well and have looked these up. But I'm looking for Nitrogen tires to put on instead of the regular air ones. I have heard that the tire pressure change between cold weather and warm weather is minimum and don't leak as much either. Is this true? What are your guys' opinions.

Thanks!
Andrew

yup they are Black Rock steel wheels. Forget which model they are, i have that somewhere.

huntb - I was not able to use my TPMS, my TPMS had the metal valve stems which would not work with the wheels I got. However, the newer libertys should have the rubber ones and they will work on different wheels. So I currently always have the low tire pressure warning light on my dash. lol

You put the nitrogen gas in your regular tires, instead of air. I did the replacement when I bought my Liberty and, after two years, haven't lost a pound of pressure in any of the tires! I had it done at my dealer, so they check the pressures every time I'm in for other service. I'd recommend getting it, especially in areas with wide swings in temperatures -- like Arizona.

If you should have to add "gas" to your tires between stops at the dealer, where they have the nitrogen machine, you can just add good old air, but you should get that tire flushed out asap to get it back to pure nitrogen.
