Hello, new to the forum and to Jeep as well (actually I am writing this for my girlfriend who is getting her first Jeep). Anyways, she is coming from a 06 HHR with issues and is upgrading to a 2008 liberty sport come monday. One thing she was wondering was if there was some sort of ipod interface that could be used with the radio (Media Center 130 cd/mp3) that would allow control via the stock head unit, a feature she is used to from her HHR. If there is no way to do this, what head units do you guys recommend for the liberty and how difficult is it to install (i.e. removing dash panel, I have experience installing head units). Thanks for your time!

welcome to the forum! there is no stock interface as far as i know, just the line in jack. as to the aftermarket radio, i have no idea, there have been few threads about it but not sure what was the outcome. try searching, see if it comes up with anything

She needs to order the Uconnect module with Ipod interface. It's about $300 and another $200 for installtion.

connecting my iPod is the first thing i do when i get in at my Liberty

i have never experience any kind of iPod interface

not getting the proper tunes at the right place at the right time in the right way can make my driving experience pretty miserable. this happens very often

You need a nav type radio to get the built in iPOD control, plus a wire harness thingy.

All the radio models confuse me but I think you will at least find an aux connector on that radio, so you will be able to hear the tunes, just not control the iPod from the radio.

You may also find it has a USB port, so you play pm3 audio from a USB stick, or transfer them onto the radio hard drive. The radio will have a menu to select and play these songs. Not quite iPOD but OK.

Well she ended up getting a gadget from walmart that enables her to hook up to aux port and includes lighter plug and remote control to control the ipod. It holds the ipod so you can see what is playing (about $60). Best buy had a gadget that claimed to work offer interface with stock radios but it was $130 and she didn't trust me installing it (she of little faith....). What she got works well, just adds clutter with the wires. Thanks for the replies.
