Gas Mileage Question

Hi
Does anyone know if the gas mileage average the Jeep gives us is the gas mileage from the days trip or since as far back as the tripodometer was set?
I heard you have to reset the tripodometer each day to get the correct gas mileage.
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that is the avg mileage since the last reset (or since the truck was put on the road if have never reset it)

That would be my guess. I use a ScangaugeII, it keeps track of both instant MPG and MPG until reset. However, I find that I like my KK more if I don't watch the MPG figures...LOL

Haha! Now that's the whole truth and nothing but the truth, jonrjen! That's my only complaint about my Jeep..the gas mileage!

Would you mind sharing what app it is that you use?

On my Altima, I would only reset the odometer each time I filled the tank. If you want to measure on your own, just fill up your tank and write the mileage, then on your next fill up, record the mileage again as well as the gallons you used. Take the difference of the mileage and divide it by gallons you used. I check the mpg this way all of the time.

This time I went 136.5 miles used 6.99 gallons of gas = 19.53mpg.

I was really light on the gas this time and avoided as much traffic as I could.

That was good gas mileage!
I can never fill up the same level again. Know what I mean? I cant get the same amount in every time. I'm hoping the gauge on the Jeep will get it right if I just reset it on fill ups.

Just do the math each time you fill up, and use the trip meter. Ignore the computer...

I usually reset the trip at each fill up.. and I reset the mpg. At the next fill up.. I usually just take the trip and divide it by the gallons used to fill and compare it to my mpg listed. I find my mpg on the KK reads about .5 higher.
