Gas Light and Trip Functions

hey everyone...just curious if anyone has an estimate how many miles I have left to drive once the low fuel gas light comes on? Also, in the trip functions, is there a way to check this along with average miles per gallon? It says there is in the owners manual, but it doesn't tell you how.

If you have the EVIC which is on the Limited it will tell you avg MPG. I think the light comes on with either 2 or 3 Gallons left, forget which. So theoretically you could have UP TO about 63 Miles left at 21 MPG

Hi Brain - It seems we have purchased our Liberty's at about the same time. I'm curious how has your gas mileage been so far. I've only been between 13-14mpg so far in mixed driving. Mostly suburban traffic, a little highway, no inner city driving yet.

I am getting about the same right now though I don't have an exact number. I have had to make 3 trips to the dealer already and have made them fill my tank each time I have gone so I haven't been able to run the numbers. I took a guess the other day and it was about 13mpg. Same, suburban and highway. I just filled up yesterday and am trying to avoid using the defroster as much as possible. Keep me updated because I am interested.

why have you had to make 3 trips to the dealer already and how did you get the dealer to fill it up each time?? I just filled up again tonight, again between 13 and 14mpg. This last fill up will be a wash since we have a snow storm coming. Should be fun though.....

Through a lot of idiling and 4x4 use this week I got about 14.8 out of mine. Mine has 10K miles on it so its broken in now. My usual driving which is mainly suburban with some traffic (about 10 mins of sitting in traffic on my 15 mile commute) I get around 16 and thats with the heat or ac on high and my window open.

For those in the colder climate area, try filling with plus on your next tank. Ive noticed in the SUV's Ive had (explorer and this Jeep) that running plus in the winter gets me better mileage and it runs better, worth the extra $2/tank IMO.

My door wont lock and they have to order a part. I went down there to finalize the paperwork becuase the finance guy left before I could do it the first night so I made them fill up then. Then I had to take it down to get the door fixed, but had to order the part, so they filled it up again. and then they installed the part and told them I wanted it filled up again. I live 45 mins from the dealer and told them I wasnt happy that I had to come down here each time and wanted them to fill up the tank.
