First time taking the 08 liberty off road Pics attached

So after having my car for a while me and my buddy who has a fj decided to take our SUVs on a 4x4 trail just south of tucson az. Trail was very rocky at the beginning with some washed out areas that made things tricky but i was able to make it everywhere my buddy was able too. He was able to go over some areas with ease where i had to go over slowly due to my ground clearance, but was able to make it. I had a blast driving the jeep. I was a little worried at the beginning I was not sure how my wheels were going to hold up in the rocky areas at the beginning but they held out very well. Anyways I plan on taking it on more off road trails, and plan on putting some bigger tires with a lift in the future. Even with the Premium II package the jeep is very capable. I have added some pics below with links. In the second pic the drop off is about 800 feet with only enough room to fit the liberty. anyways I thought you guys would enjoy . It was a 4 hour run in the mountains.

Glad you had a good time! Don't sweat it about the wheels. They'll eventually get scratches on them. Couple weeks ago I took my 08 KK on a trail that was challenging even for Rubicons (i.e. terrain so tough I thought for sure my KK was going to be garbage meat by the time we got to the other side -- wouldn't have gone had I known how tough the trail was) and aside from having to replace a wheel liner (fender flare ripped right out of it from coming down on a rock), the KK was bulletproof.

I was literally sailing down rocks on my skid plates alone as it was down-hill and gravity was doing all the work (all 4 wheels weren't even contacting the ground at points). I'm telling you, the 08-current KK's are BULLETPROOF. I would never have believed it if I didn't experience it. Now I charge through monster-size potholes on the road like they're puddles.

Wish I had taken pictures... had no chance though since both hands were on the wheel at ALL times.

wow! Thats good to know about the liberty. There were a few places where I thought for sure I was going to bottom out but just a few little scrapes on the bottom and thats all. I cleaned the car yesterday and not even a scratch on the rims. I thought for sure there would be some from the rocks. I cant wait to go on more trails.

Do you have the skid plate group? If so, you have nothing to worry about. Like I said: bulletproof. NO (production) vehicle should have been able to sustain the pounding my KK took on that trail. I was blown away at how solid it is. It's practically a tank when it comes to rocks.

Libertys with 18" Chrome rims are not Trail Rated due to the Rims. More Rim, Less Tire. Just make sure you have the Skid Plates, Tow Hooks in the front and single Tow Hook in the back.

Yup. Without skid plates, I would not have made it through to the other side of the trail I was on. I probably would have ruptured every kind of fluid there is to rupture.

Ya I dont think im going to take it off road anymore till I get a new rims and tires and give it a lift which wont be till i need my first set of tires which will be a another 6000 miles or so. But I had so much I dont know if I can wait till then. I went just south of tucson off highway 19 in the santa rita mts. Its called Bull Spring Run. But my mom has a fully loaded commander with chrome wheels just like mine and hers is trail rated
