First time oil filter removal....

New Liberty.....3k miles..first oil change.....

Manufacturer might of well as machined that mopar oil filter on....took 2 of us....1 guy to hold the claw....the other to turn the 3 piece socket rig we had set up to align enough torq to get the freaking thing off.....

My first ever 2+ hour oil change....lol

Oh well it's over. Never again. Now I am in control of the filter.

My dealer offers a prepaid deal (through Chrysler) of 4 oil changes for $15 apiece. Must be done within 2 years. Can't beat that. Sit and drink coffee and eat (their) donuts while some grease monkey skins his knuckles.

Yep. I bought that 4 oil change deal today. Glad I didn't try it myself. The service advisor said it was taking them a little longer because they have to take the skid plate off.

My wife bought the lifetime oil change through our dealer, cost me 400 dollars and I just have to take it in every 3000 miles or 3 months. When my wife first bought it, I was a little pissed off, but now I'm glad she did.

It probably was over tighten by a gorilla mechanic. The front diff, transfer case and rear diff fluid will be easy to change. Invest in two pairs of sturdy, safe jack stands.

I don't see the gasket on top of the filter in the pic. I hope you got that off before you put the new filter on. Classic situation for a blow out due to a double gasket.

they prolly forgot to lubricate the seal on the filter when it got installed. i forgot it once and it was a pain to remove the filter afterwards.
