Was my first soldering attempt (putting on the connection on the antenna coax) and I must say it looked pretty atrocious..

Lol. Forgive me. It has been many years since my CB days so I don't recall the names. Let my did in my head I believe it's the pr59 connector??? Or something.....the connector on the coax that plugs into the radio box.

Was a screw on but they recommended soldering the tip where the wire came through.

ah gotcha...just to make sure you have a good connection i suppose. Seems a little over the top to me as mine is pretty good. but to each his own!

I need to get that damn star tool from my buddy to get the anchor point off the wall in the back so i can pull the plastic and finish routing the second CB cable for the re-install of my CB since i used my original cabling for the fire radio. hopefully get it done today.

Finally wired it up. Think my SWR meter is messed up. Numbers were bouncing all over the place in horrific levels. I disconnected and hooked up my galaxy which has the SWR meter built in (I know it is better to get from a meter) but I was seeing about 1.5 with the galaxy and was pinning the external meter.

Good work. I finally got my CD cable all routed for the CB and have it all connected. I havent run it through the SWR yet so i havent transmitted yet, but all the incoming traffic sounds fine (not that the SWR has anything to do with incoming).

Thanks sag. Mine seems to be working "ok." Wasn't putting out like a superstar, but for a dinky handheld radio I guess I shouldn't expect to much. I'm used to juices up full sized juiced up radios in my cars and trucks. Should be fine for any kind of trailing I finally get to do or local hwy chat. It hasn't blown up yet either so I guess the SWR's are ok. I want to upgrade to a 3ft stik instead of the 2ft. Maybe that will help with my output. The 2 ft'er is nice for looks but doesn't put out a damn.

yea i hear yah. Like i mentioned before i was debating about getting a bigger stick for just the trails so i dont have to worry about destroying it when im in town. Do you have a quick disconnect on yours? that will get you at least 4 more inches of clearance from the roof. Since i got my YJ now, i probably wont be taking the KK out on the more difficult trails or anything like that. Probably just forestry roads and use the KK more as the supply vehicle to get to camp. I got a four footer firestik for the YJ and just need to get the mount for the antenna and then install it with my old CB.
