I'm having an issue with my doors unlocking. With the remote and from the door unlock switch, only the drivers door will unlock. The parking lights flash twice when I attempt to unlock or press twice to unlock passenger doors but that's it
I have a different issue maybe some one can help me with. When I unlock the door with the key the horn blasts until I put the key in the ignition. I'm sure its an anti theft issue but how do I turn it off? Does your do that too or is it just in mine? Thanks.
I have the same problem, but it happens only after a couple hours of driving. It goes back to normal for me after a couple hours sitting. The real pisser about this is not being able to open the back gate. Pretty sure its all controlled by the tipm and requires the dealership to fix it.
Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and also a recent owner of an 09 liberty. I have been havering problems with my door locks engaging on there own. Both parked with no key in it and while driving. Also the rear gate had a new latch mechanism put in less then a month ago because it read open on the dash and even made my interior lights stay on constantly. It has recently started doing this again over the last few days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
An update...
My unlocking problem is the tipm. Unbeleivably, it had to be replaced to the tune of around $300.
My advice to you would be to get rid of the jeep as soon as possible as these things have the poorest engineering of just about anything I've experienced.
I bought a super clean 2010 Liberty with 105,000 miles on it for my daughter six months ago because its what she really wanted. Come to find out, the heads on a 3.7 are notorious for cracking or blowing head gaskets, I'm replacing mine now. A $2400 job. The rear pinion seal is out and the doors won't unlock.
In comparison, my brother and I both bought 10 year old Mercedes ML430 and a ML 320 with 100,000 plus miles on them, they were built in Alabama. They are the easiest cars you'll ever work on and completely reliable. Four wheel drive 8 and 6 cylinders and parts are readily available.
Oh wow. Thanks for the advice. I'm stuck with mine. Just got it in August so far from paid off. Looks like I'm stuck with yet another money pit. I already put $800 into the water pump thermostat and gate latch.
I'm having an unlocking issue as well. I'll unlock my jeep with the key fod everything thing opens up but the drivers door stays locked? It will open when I use the key tho, any ideas? It's happened 3x now and my warranty is up in a few hundred miles. Just like some input before I hear the dealerships b/s story.
