Cabin Air Filter?

My daughter has a 2010 Liberty. She brought it into the dealer because the heat was not working. They banged her for a cabin air filter. Can this even be possible at 11,000 mi? I replaced my wife's Honda Accord filter on her '05 at 30K. I think they ripped her. Am I wrong?

Changed mine at 19k. It was filthy! Should have been changed earlier. But causing the heater to not work, sounds like a stretch to me.

I thought only certain models have the cabin filter; it says "if installed" in my owners manual 2011 and there's zero instructions.

so its behind the glove box? is the glove box easy to remove? thanks for any help!

here we go....

The more clogged it is the less fresh air it can draw making the heater seem like it's not working very well.Acts just like your engine air filter,if clogged you loose power and mpg's.

I just checked my cabin filter with 20K on my truck. The filters are totally black. What's weird is that my Air filter still the original is fine, a little dirty but looks nothing like my cabin filter, I hope it is doing its job. lol
