Automotive Bumper Policies

I'm looking to build a front bumper replacement and was made aware that there are certain guidlines that must be met with it's strength and it's ability to "crumple" to protect the victim (stupid rule, just make everything strong as s!@#). I was wondering if anyone has built their own bumpers and came across these regulations so I could be made aware of them. Thanks!

Not that I'm aware of in the US. You may want to ask your insurance company if it concerns you. I've never heard of state inspections fail because of an aftermarket bumper. There are strict regulations of this in Australia though.

Start with your local state patrol
Depending on who you talk to here in Ohio bumpers have to be full width IF it came from the factory with a full width bumper.
As far as crumple zones etc , ARB is built to those standards and in fact also has some crumple zones built into the frameworks to work with the Jeeps.
As far as others go its wide open, I am sure you've seen all kinds on the road up there just like here
