Aftermarket subwoofer with sky slider

I'm considering putting a subwoofer in my liberty but I am hesitant because of the sky slider. Does anybody know if I did put one in my car if it would throw the roof off of the tracks or affect the roof because of the vibrating? Anyone have a subwoofer in their kk? Pics would be awesome

I have had a 15" Fi Audio SSD in my trunk for about three years now, have had no problems with the roof! Unfortunately don't have any pictures of it at the moment.

Awesome. how bad does the roof flex? And you do have the sky slider right?

Liberty09MN 07-03-2013 11:17 PM

Yes, I have the sky slider. It probably flexes a little but nothing crazy, its never been anything I noticed. Even solid roofs flex with a powerful system! What are your concerns? Just damaging the sliding mechanism? What are you going to be putting in?

Yes my biggest concern is knocking the sliding mechanism out of place. I have a 15inch kicker l7 with a kicker zx 1000.1 amp. The box is rather large(i had it in my previous car) and it flexed the roof alot and with this roof i am just worried of leaking or getting into thousands of dollars of repairs all for a subwoofer

My sub has acquired some damage over the last three years ha, but my roof is fine, and I bang alllll the time. I'm actually about to switch my Fi out for my brother's L7 that he had replaced on warranty, think he has the same 1000W kicker amp too! I've had my box facing up at the roof for over a year now, sub and port, no problems! How big is your box in comparison to the trunk? have you set it in there yet? Mine faces long way parallel with my jeep. Takes up about 1/3 of the width, comes out to the edge of the hidden compartment, and is about level with the top of the back seats. I should be switching out my sub/amp soon (next few days) and if this one magically destroys the roof I'll let you know!

Haha awesome! Here is a picture of it in the back of my old blazer. I have not done a test fit yet but i know it will fit. Let me know if you get it hooked up how the car reacts to it

Definitely bigger than my box haha, but I still got a wee bit o trunk space! Enough to fit my bowling balls and disc golf bag nicely! I'll snap some pics when I'm doing my swap

upside down picture oops!

Bigger the box the better! Get them low low tones.

I had some issues when I was running some serious bass. AA mayhem 18 in ~7 cubes, 4 alpine type X 12s, crossfire xs 15 v2. I had two Audiopipe 3000d running to those combos. The. Went two audioque 2200s. My roof would be slopping like a drunk girl on her bottle of vitka. The only issues I had though was some bolts and nuts coming loose from the bass.

I no retired to an SA8v2 SPL in a hefty T Line box with a AQ 1200 on it at 1 ohm. It's just enough to get some vibrations through out the cab

Hey man i went ahed and installed my l7 in the jeep. I used my factory head unit using an rca converter and running my amp rem wire to a switch. The sub wont play loud at all even with the bass and the volume all the way up im barely getting any vibration. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

Don't want to thread jack this topic, but have any of you with the SkySlider noticed the little noises and such that the roof tends to naturally make when say, driving slowly and going over bumps\shifting the vehicles weight?

Note: This is when the music is off any everything is quiet as it is harder to hear when going faster...

I'm not sure.. always had an aftermarket deck so if thats the problem I wouldn't be any help there. I would imagine you played with the gain and stuff on the amp, and the treble/bass/etc on the head unit? The sub is playing though, just not loud? When you say amp rem wire, are you talking about a gain/bass knob, or the blue wire for the amp to turn on?

I can't say I've noticed anything like that. The only problem I've had is a lot of air noise, like it doesn't seal as well and it's kind of loud at high speeds. Probably just from opening and closing a lot over the last three years or so, sometimes at higher speeds which probably doesn't help

Nope no noises like that but i can tell you at speeds over 60-70 the noise is unbareable so i found a sunroof wind deflector that fit the sky slider. if anyone is interested i will post pics and a link. It literally cuts the noise down to basically a normal car.
