245/75-16 P-Metric or LT tire choice

OK, I know a number of you here have change your tires out either for a larger size or tread pattern.

My questions is: did you choose to stay with a P-Metric tire (car tire, light load) or did you go with a LT (light truck, heavier load rating) tire.

If you went with an LT rated tire, what did you notice as to the handling and ride of your Liberty? Are you pleased with your choice or do you wish you had gone with a lighter sidewall rating for a better ride. How do you use your Liberty...as a daily driver with little to no off road or do you mud, sand rock, and gravel road?

Thanks
Jon

Hey jon,

The hankooks I out on mine are a LT tire. I didn't notice much of a difference. Maybe a bit stiffer over bumps but nothing you would notice as harsh. I had trouble finding a p-metric tire in that size that had the tread I was looking for. All in all I would do it again. Besides its nice knowing I have stronger tires over all when I am out wheeling. Piece of mind.

That's what I was wanting to hear. I would like to have less sidewall flex and a bit more strength where it counts.
I was looking very strong at going with the Hankook tires. Discount tire prices comes in right around $800 out the door for all 5 tires....without their extended warranty protection policy. I remember the old days when you purchased tires the price included mounting and balancing. Now it cost $18 each for mounting and balancing, but they give you free valve stems. Like that is a deal now that none of the new vehicles can use the old style valve stems.

I bought mine from walmart.com. Cost me just about the same. The mounting was free. $6 per tire to balance. The hankooks kick *** btw. Very good road manners and excellent off road handling. Sweet in the snow too.
