2010 liberty rim issues

My wife hit a manhole without a cover the other morning destroying her tire and rim. When the shop ordered a replacement it did not fit. The rim would not fit on the hub and the jeep cap was too small for the new rim. They checked the numbers off of the old rim and it was for a 2012 liberty. As far as I know the rims are original to the truck. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea why this happened?

That really is confusing me since as far as I know there were no changes to the KK between 2008 and 2012 that would amount to totally different bolt pattern / hub. For example, the 16" sport aluminum wheel is the same all through the body run. Same with the limited 17" wheel that I have.

Sorry no pics. They are the bright silver sixteen inch rims. I'm not sure how exactly they remedied the situation but they did get the correct rim. It is odd to say the least.
