2010 liberty revving issue?

Hi my brother has a 2010 liberty and when you start the engine and give a little revving it wont over 2000 rpm i dont if this i normal it also hesitates and little before getting to the 2000 rmp mark. can someone please help. Jeep only has 9,000 miles.

You mean sitting in park and reving the engine? Rev limiter probably. Reving in park serves no useful purpose anyway. Tell him to put it in gear and I'll bet it will go way past 2000 rpm. Then he will know for sure.

This is normal on almost every new vehicle until it is warmed up. Tried driving until the vehicle is warmed up, then see if it will let you rev it.

tried on mine, revved to 4k no problem. may b there is a limiter on 2010
