This.

Also, test drive it. If you like how it drives and it meets your needs, buy it. If not, don't.

It's a solidly built, reliable vehicle.

Just bought a 2010 Limited in Inferno Red last night for the wife, a very nice vehicle, it's my first Jeep. Go for it!

Nope, but if you did I'd still have 350K left on my superior diesel motor! LOL!

Back in February my wife was on a mission to get a new SUV to replace her '02 Explorer. We looked at just about everything. She test drove a Rubicon Unlimited Wrangler, but that didn't make sense since she wouldn't be going off-road nor taking the tops off. She loved the Nissan Armada, but couldn't come to grips on that V8. The Pathfinder seemed small inside, but she really like the Xterra. We were ready to buy it, but the Nissan dealer was an idiot and was playing stupid games with us. We walked out and as we were driving by the Jeep dealer I suggested driving a Liberty.

She really wanted the rugged look, yet wanted to maintain all the creature comforts. She immediately fell in love with the Liberty and we bought it that day. It was an '08 Sport with tow package that had been sitting on the lot. She miss some of the space she had with the much larger Explorer, but absolutely loves everything else about it.

Look for 2009 and 2008 reviews, there have been a couple minor improvements, but they are nearly the same vehicle.

The KK is not as sophisticated or handles or rides as well on the street as many others, but it is not bad either. It has a more upright seating position, so make sure you drive one. Off road there is no contest, the KK is a solid vehicle not intimidated by any terrain. The sport or rocky mountain models price are a bargain. The limited model will get you more creature comfort and a driver seat that is more adjustable. Find or order one with selec-trac.

CR has a tendency to rate the car based SUVs better than the truck based SUVs because of the street use. Its a different story in the outdoors/camping/hunting/offroad oriented reviews.

I am looking at Jeeps myself, so can't speak from experience. I test drove a Patriot today and thought some of its reviews a bit harsh. I suspect the reviewers probably don't get Jeeps and off road vehicles. That said, you can find reviews here: 2010 Jeep Liberty Reviews, Pictures and Prices - U.S. News Rankings and Reviews

ThunderbirdJunkie will probably get flamed by some wayward MK owner, but Patriots are not off road vehicles
