I highly recommend the Liberty with skyslider roof. I bought an 09 Libby to be my wife's daily driver and we both love it. Get the Limited if you can afford it. We didn't and we do really miss the steering wheel controls and a few other nice things that come with the Limited. We have had no issues with the skyslider whatsoever. And even completely stock this Jeep is still a Jeep and will tackle some pretty aggressive off road trails, I know from personal experience. The biggest complaint I have is the tires. Although they have not let me down yet, and we have done quite a bit of off roading, I am going to install some 255-70-R16 tires with a 2" lift very soon.

My bro in-law has a 4dr Jeep unlimited and it is sweet, don't get me wrong, but the Libby is more practical and more comfortable. And is very capable off road. I've been very impressed.

I also have an 09 with the SkySlider and it is easily the best feature on the Liberty. I have not had any issues as described by some on here. Also the Limited adds all kinds of extra creature comforts if that's your goal.

Resale wise though, the Unlimited wins hands down. Not sure how long you plan on keeping it. I ultimately went with the KK over the JK because of the added creature comforts (on/off headlights, dimming mirror, leather seats, etc.) for less price than a loaded Sahara. Though if I were buying again today I wouldn't get white exterior. Oh well.

I had the same dilemma when I bought my jeep.

Was between the liberty sport w/ popular accessory , skyslider , and full size spare

or the unlimited x wrangler (forgot the options)

i choose the liberty due to the ride comfort and the slider roof. I have had no problems with it and its by far my favorite feature of the jeep. The other thing is the 09 liberty had the lifetime warranty still and the unlimited was a 2010 and didnt have it. Not to mention at the time the liberty has some crazy incentives on it.

Other than the thing not starting up (see my other thread ) i have been really happy with it.

Britt, one question I would ask is "what car are you trading, or moving from?" This makes a big difference for DD, and comfort/noise reference point.
We have both an 08 Liberty, and 08 unlimited. My wife loves her Liberty, and I love my Wrangler. I'm used to driving trucks, so the Wrangler was a better ride to me, and the ability to pull the front HT panels and get the occasional Seattle sun is awesome.
The liberty is the unlimited, but no sky roof. She thinks my wrangler rides too rough. The noise difference between the 2 is huge. After drivin my wrangler daily, then jumping into her Liberty, the damn thing is luxury car quiet in comparison.
If you are looking for more ride comfort, and the occasional mountain trip to a fishin or camping spot, get the liberty. Like T-bird said, upgrade the tires and you shouldn't have too many issues. I think you'll like whichever jeep you pick. Jeeps have their warts, but we both came from Toyota Vehicles, and would never go back. Enjoy..

i came from a geo tracker '95 -soft top- to the libby sport

the stretch was huge for me $ but due to the incentives Jeep was giving at the time (april '09) i manage to grab one

now that i see so many pictures of the sky slider I think I should've gone with that, i regret not gettin' it ....

looks freakin awesome! if you have the money go for it!

Britt If I had the same problem as you, I would go with the 2010 liberty 4x4 with the trail ready package and the mygig entetainment center.
