2008 KK Questions

I traded in my 2005 TJ RME on a 2008 KK Sport with the SkySlider and I was wondering if there is anything I should know regarding this year of Liberty? So far I really like it and after owning 3 wranglers this feels like driving in luxury. I miss the TJ already but I do a lot of driving and I think it is time for a step up in the luxury area. Just wondering what I should know about my new purchase.
thanks

I personally like the look of them over the first generation libertys. It is definatly a capable vehicle I just have yet to see too many people wheel them yet. I guess they're still to new.

Good Luck with it and don't forget that its still a capable jeep.

with the 08 model check for TSBs applied, u might have some outstanding ones. also your gas tank might develop problems with spilling gas during refill, the rear window might leak, or might not
other then that its an awesome car

I just turned 35K miles on my Limited 4x4 (no sky slider). I have been really happy with it. I have had the driver's seat belt replaced as it was beginning to fray and they had to replace a trim piece on the passenger front seat that broke. I did replace the original Goodyears at 30K because they were making noise although they still looked okay. I probably have some TSBs that affect me but I haven't felt the need to take it in for anything. Good luck with yours.

I haven't put gas in this yet since I just got it, but I know my TJ used to spill gas at every fill up......drive me nuts. My biggest worry is the sky slider, since so many people have had problems. I really like it so far and it only makes minimal noise when I go over 65mph.....which is still a million times quieter than my TJ was. It only has 18,000 miles on it and I got a 6 year 125,000 mile extended warranty so I will be ready for any jeep bugaboos that come about.

well get ready for the liberty to do the same regarding the spills and regarding the skyslider, i dont have it but i heard that if you properly maintain it it should not give you any problems.

Congrats on the liberty. The skyslider is the only option that I really wanted to have but they didnt have a single on at my jeep dealer. Everyone I have talked to though has said great things about these liberties. My mechanic went on for about 5 minutes about how great the liberty was when he found out I bought one..he likes chrysler products too lol.

Just curious to the poster about the seatbelt, Mine is starting to fray too after only 5 months though. How bad was it before you went in? I feel like the driver seat is going to go too before long.

It wasn't in danger of breaking or anything. It was just fuzzing up. My guess is that they had some issues with the plastic housing for the belt maybe with a sharp edge. Or maybe they just had a bad batch of belts. Probably just a first year thing. My new belt has only been in there about 2 months but as of yet there is no fraying.

Also, for the record, I have never experience any problems during fueling.
