2008 Jeep Liberty making noise only when I'm off the gas

About two days ago my Jeep started to make noise. From the inside it sounds like a knock and it sounds like its coming from the back of the truck. When you roll the window down you can hear what can be best described as a creaky squeaky type sound which sounds like its coming from the back. The noise goes away though at the slightest touch of the gas. Can anyone give me an idea of what this might be? 08 Jeep LIberty sport 36000 miles.

From what your describing,I would check your rear U-Joint.Most of the time when you have a bad U-Joint,it will make noise with gas off,and go away with acceleration.

Solution

It ended up being that all the lugs on the driver side rear tire were loose, back to a smooth ride!(I found this out days later but figured Id post it now in case someone else has a similar issue)
