08 Liberty Limited random cylinder misfire

My 08 limited keeps poping the check engine light, when I take it in they are saying the code is random cylinder misfire. It came on the first time on Saturday after I filled up with gas, then we had them clear the code, and it was fine until today after I topped off again. Also when the lights are on and it is idling, you can see the lights flicker. We changed the plugs today and it didn't help at all, seems to be getting worse. Anyone have any info on this issue or have gotten it fixed completely? I have read on here that others have had this issue, but it seems like it is intermittent and everyone has done something differently. It is still covered under warranty, but a two hour drive to the dealership kinds stinks so I want to go in guns blazing with info when I take it to them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Do you "top off"? If so could be a issue with the EVAP system causing your random misfire after a fill up.Also would not hurt to get a fuel induction system cleaning and your battery tested.

Id agree on the Battery possibly. Do you know what the CEL code was?

I don't have the code number, and it did start doing it when we filled up on Saturday at get go, then I put gas in it yesterday and the code came back. Waiting on the dealer to call me back to fix it.

KK still at the dealership and I'm stuck with a mini van as rental. They changed the plugs wires and coils today with no luck at a resolution they are going to tear into the head tomorrow. Will let you all know when a resolution is found.

Getting her back from the dealership today, they changed the plugs, wires, coils, and replaced all the intake valves, because they were gummed up with carbon. It is running fine now, and not running anymore codes.

Mcgee, my last car had numerous CEL, so I saw an Equus code checker at walmart and I bought for $108.99. This was in 2005. I have used it on my family and friends cars so much that I now charge $10 to use it

walmart now sells it for $79. car md sells one, but the Equus has more features and tell you the code right there, no need to go looking in the book or cd to find the right code. EXCELLENT INVESTMENT!!
