08 liberty limited or a 07 grand cherokee?

me and my gf are having a baby and she needs to get a bigger car. ( im keeping my tj ) she has pontiac g6. we looked at these 2 vehicles and wondering which is the better choice. any problems with anyone of these. ive already told her that a jeep is a jeep and not to expect a smooth ride or great gas mileage. but besides that any thing i should look out for? thanks

Both the Liberty and G Cherokee will have a better ride than your TJ due to IFS in the front. The Liberty as for problems i bought an 08 and havnt had anything major, but the problems i had a most likely due to lift. If you need the extra room the Grand Cherokee has and are willing to pay the extra money then get the G Cherokee but if you just want something bigger than the G6 then get the Liberty as it has good room, great handling in bad weather and as long as you keep up with maintenance you should have good luck with it

I bought a liberty and love it.....no issues (knock in wood) I came from a 2009 Honda civic si that I loved but quickly realized I couldn't practically live with the limited room......one place you"ll hate going-----GAS STATION. I highly recommend the KK to anyone that asks!

Its a toss up honestly. Both ride decent and you will get 20mpg from them. The grand has slightly more interior space *width wise*

Normally i would stay clear of first year cars like the 08 liberty, you never know what issues could pop up down the road, i know my 08 that i bought used was having quiet a few annoying issues, nothing major but it was enough to have me turn it in for a new 2010 one.

I'll agree with not buying the first year of a new model.....that why I'm glad I jumped on board with a 2010 and I've had the sky slider open quite a bit with 0 issues( knock on wood )

I've had zero issues with my 2008. I looked at the GC when I bought my Liberty and I thought the Liberty had more room overall, especially in the back seat. I love mine.

For the same money/mileage go with the grand. The grand is a better car especially on the highway, more sophisticated, better ride, more options, more money than the liberty. New and considering the typical rebates, the base grand is in the same price neighborhood of a Liberty limited. The liberty is a bit shorter and taller, the grand is a bit longer and lower. The liberty is targeted to low cost value market, the grand to more of a luxury market segment. More effective 4WD systems and the V8 are available in the Grand, and the base Grand will have more creature comforts than even the liberty limited.

They both have the same issues, if any.

So it comes down to color or deal. There is a blue available only on the Liberty that girls seem to love. For the same money/mileage, I'd get the Grand.

The 07 GC has an extra year of depreciation vs the 08 Liberty and will probably be a better value for you over your period of ownership. Thes vehicles depreciate quickly so an extra year is a big deal IMO. If the GC has a V8 it's a no brainer, I would go w/ the GC... if you are looking at the V6 GC... meh... had one, I like the KK Liberties better. Since I've strayed from the Jeep flock recently, you may really want to check out Ford, I think they are better values then Jeeps right now.

Leased an '08 Liberty for the wife.Lease recently ran out and we bought it as it has been 100% trouble free. She loves it. What Mama wants, Mama gets!

2008 Lib - 25,000 miles so far....zero problems. Gets about 19mpg in daily driving...maybe 22 on the highway if I take it easy. Solid, decent power, no complaints at all.

Have had no problems with my 2008 KK. Been perfect for the 18 months I've had it. Actually, have had one minor problem. Sometimes, when I click unlock on the remote, the horn blazes for a second as though the alarm is starting to go off. Scares the crap out of me in an enclosed garage when I'm not expecting it but not that big a deal. I'm guessing it's a minor electrical thing? Circuits getting crossed with alarm and unlock when I hit the button?

Not bad! I get two extremes though. 11MPG city and sometimes I can achieve 23MPG on the highway.
