I got this 1999 red TJ in Oct. 2011 with 85,000 miles on it. It was a one
owner car with only a few mods, which consisted of a wierd chrome bumper,
grille, and a few chrome hinges, and an alarm system that didn't work.

I removed hundreds of feet of worthless wire from the alarm system. Added
a brand new battery and replaced the terminals. I swapped the chrome
hinges for black OEM ones, and removed the chrome vent cover, chrome
windsheild wiper nozzle covers, and all other chrome that I could
remove/swap out. I used "Forever Black" to re-stain the fender flares, and
cleaned the heck out of the rest of it. So everything is clean and ready to go.

So far, I've performed the following mods:

1. Sony stereo , upgraded speakers, 600 watt RMS subwoofer.
2. Instatrunk.
3. Removed bumpers - added SmittyBuilt front/rear bumpers with shackles.
4. Fog lights installed on front bumper - Warn remote controlled 6.5"
5. Extra driving lights - windshield mounted KC hinge bracket - Warn 6.5" remote controlled.
6. Replaced the headlamps with Hella lamps, black trim rings and
mounting hardware.
7. New-style rear view mirrors.
8. Drake black billet grille inserts.
9. Stone guards on rear, front, and turn lamps.
10. Skyjacker 4" short arm lift kit.
11. JKS Adjustable Trackbar w/ stabilizer and all new extended brake lines.
12. Goodyear Silent Armor 285/70R17 tires - Granite Alloy GA9 17 x 8 wheels.
13. aFe 3" catback muffler system.
14 Added some stainless hood latches.
15. Teraflex spare tire extension - looked at what I did - removed it.
16. Exogate spare tire carrier/tailgate hinge set.
17. Gorilla Wheel locks. ON EVERY SINGLE LUG! 23 in total.
18. Centric Rotors, Black Magic pads, and calipers, new shoes and drums in the rear.
19. New 4.56 gearing, carriers, speedo, SOLID covers
20. Advanced Adapters Slip Yoke Eliminator/Tom Woods Driveshaft/Currie
rear upper adjustable control arms

21. 3/4" coil spring isolators all around. Total lift now 4.75".
22. HealTech Speedo Healer. Now the odomoeter/speedometer is dead on accurate.
23. New Synergy ball joints
24. Currie adjustable front upper control arms
25. Installed a Rusty's Tie Rod conversion. Drove it. Adjusted the heck out
of it. Hated it. Now Iíve removed the Rusty's junk and installed the Currie
. Lesson learned. Btw ... Rusty is a jerk. The guys at Quadratec
hooked me up with the Currie Correctlync and took the Rustyís back. Good job Quadratec.
26. 2 Warn tow hooks to the front bumper.

Wheels/Tires finally got here.
Holy guacamole! These tires have a square profile and the wheels rock. I haven't even gotten it back from the tire guy and I had to post a pic.

Lift complete.
Here's a pic after the new wheels and tires are added. It actually rides smoother and quieter with the new tires:

Tires: Goodyear Silent Armor 285/70R17
Wheels: Granite Alloy GA9, 17 x 8

Do you like the forever black? Last long?

The Forever Black was very, very easy to apply. (I removed all the flares first and cleaned them with degreaser before applying) It went on easily, remained somewhat streakfree, and washed off my hands with soap and water. I've been told that it will last for a year or two ... but heck, for $9.99, (I only used about 1/2 the bottle for the entire Jeep) I'll apply it every time I feel they need a little touch up!

Mostly finished with the exterior ... I think.
I'm not planning on adding much to the exterior
that will change the look. I'm working on gearing,
driveshaft, and a few minor interior things, so I'm
posting a good view of it up to this point.

Nice make-over! I used the forever black years ago on an xj and in summer - heat & some direct sun with the regular washing I found it only lasted 1-2 months. Still good stuff tho.
