Jeep Information

Year:1976

Model:CJ-7

Engine:258

Transmission:3-Speed Manual

This jeep goes in to the shop for body and paint work in the next couple of weeks. Still trying to decide on the color. Original color is blue. Thinking about yellow or orange.

Shooting for a complete restoration with some upgrades for next year's trail season. Upgrades under consideration are front disc brakes to replace drums, power brake booster, power steering, DUI ignition, gauges and sound system. Going to replace a lot of hardware with stainless. May add Rhino Lining (or similar) on floor surfaces and interior side of firewall...maybe on undercarriage, too. Need to replace original wheels at some point.

This Jeep has already had a complete engine rebuild that included a Clifford Performance package (intake manifold, cam, header, valve cover and Holley four barrel). New heavy duty clutch was installed in the 3-speed transmission. Replaced original fuel tank with high capacity plastic one. Added new heavy duty starter. Added new heavy duty water pump. Replaced fuel pump. Replaced the radiator. Replaced original seats with Bestop Trailmax.

Jeep came with a hardtop but it's being mothballed for now...going to replace it with a soft top of some kind (with soft doors). Original doors are damaged (metal fatigue) due to poor latch design. Jeep also came with a Warn 8274 winch.

Jeep body has minor issues...some rust but nothing major. Best option for restoration appears to be keeping original body rather than replacing with steel copy or YJ swap.
