Decided to do a different thread for my wheel and tire selection. I've got the thread for "what lift" going to keep it all about the lifts, pro's and con's, etc. But once I do one of the 2.5" lifts, what specificiations do I need to know for aftermarket rims and tires. I'm thinking a 31" BFG AT tire, I've been running them on my truck, and my cherokee before that and just don't see a need or want to switch as it's such a killer tire. However, I've been looking at some 17" rims but I'm not sure how wide I should go, and what the backspacing needs to be? If I did something like a 17x9" wheel, and a 31" BFG AT, what spacing do I need to avoid rub issues, and I'd also like to achieve that wider aggresive looking stance. Something that maybe just barely pokes out of the fender, barely. I don't want all the tread tucked under, but I don't want it to look like a hooptie either. Suggestions?
If you want some 16in rims.. I have some 255/70/16 General Grabbers for sale that I could get to you depending on where you live in ohio. If you live anywhere around dayton i could get them to ya without shipping. Pm me if you are interested..

I'm very partial to my BFG AT's. They have been my tire of choice for years now. I tried some Procomp Xterrain's a couple of years ago and hated every minute of em. I can't see going to a lessor tire of the AT's though, those grabbers look like stock tires that come on stock vehicles. I don't want MT's (all though bad@ss looking) so I settle between a city tire and the MT's. Low and behold, the BFG AT.

Oh, wow! The picture on their website looks totally different. What are you looking to get for those? I'm looking at that rough country 2.5 kit, and they claim that if I go bigger than 245/70 r16 I'd need to do trimming....what type of trimming? Are you familiar with the KJ lifts and wheel size/ spacing? If I went with some 16x8's or 9's and got these tires would it work?
Yep, General Grabber AT2's for both me and a co worker. We love them and for the price, you CANT go wrong. I heard that you can go with a 265/70/16 with a 2.5" lift. Very little rubbing.
Love the Grabbers. General now has a lifetime customer here. I used to be a BFG man myself, not no more!!
FWIW, i have 245/75-16 General Grabbers AT2 on my cherokee with 2" of lift. I measured them when i got them and they were a bit UNDER 31". My guess is the 255/70's would be about at 31"+-, and would most likely be ok, depending upon the year of your Libby. 2005 and up you will prolly be ok, previous years might rub on the foglamp.
