I own 3 liberties. 2 KJs and 1 KK. My personal opinion is I prefer all of them. Each has positives and minuses but I drive the KK daily.

I think the best part of the difference between the KK vs KJ is under the hood. Looks much cleaner under the hood of the KK and I would think easier to work on.

I'd rather work on a KJ changing plugs, belt, water pump, anything really
much easier

The 2008's are easy with the plugs. A bit harder with the newer years.
Belt was pretty easy as well.
I'm sure you can do it all with your eyes closed by now, Tom.

Wait till you pull the reservoir tanks out on the KK to do any work.

I am not a fan of the KJ's interior. The KK looks nicer but I have not had experience with one. The seats on my 2005 are particularly bad.

Haven't had to yet... what kind of work would require that?

Radiator replacement, engine tear down, maybe even water pump? It's a lot more cumbersome than how the KJ is designed. Two screws and the coolant tank moves on the KJ, and they are easy to reach.

Hi all,

I am currently shopping for a Liberty to replace my 3rd gen 4runner and am having a hard time deciding between the KJ or KK. This will be a dd with some slight mods for light offroading. Would love to hear more feedback on the difference between the 2 and preferences. It seems the aftermarket is a bit more plentiful for the KJ but what about reliability etc. for each? Thanks for the input.

Ask your husband to recheck his work.

x2. Maybe he just forgot to snap the clips back on.
Also do you notice the noise at all speeds including park?
