what is the difference between 4.7's

I have just traded off the wifes Liberty for a 2006 WK with a 4.7 and the 28F option package, cant complain ended up getting down from the 33600 list to a little over 21 grand with her backwards, gap an extended warranty went up only 18 dollars a month.... I have two questions is there any one else that went from Liberty to a WK and your thoughts on the matter , and also I noticed that the 2004 4.7 HO was rated at 265 hp , can we get that rating up on the standard 4.7 ..... ....... total price came in at 25000 even .. Oh her Liberty was 2004 Columbia Edition

Thanks

First the 4.7 HO is a high output engine and yes delivers 30 hp more but if your engine is not an HO then you have 235 hp. so if there is no HO written on the engine bay than its just a regular 4.7L.

The 3.7L on liberty came in production just after 4.7L and pretty much is the same block with less 2 cylinders. The 3.7L produces 210hp and 235 tourqe.

The 4.7 L is a more powerfull engine due to its torqe at 290 for the 4.7L so its a lot more capable and it realy moves once you floor it.

I believe it may be different heads. Im not sure what makes the HO an "HO." Could be different exhaust headers.

I had a '04 Dodge Ram with the standard 4.7L. From all the discussion I saw on DodgeTalk.com, the compression is a little higher in the HO and the cam shafts are different. At one point even the intake manifold was different, but I believe they standardized them on the '04 and later 4.7s. Anyway, you can check out DodgeTalk or look at KRC performance (KRCperformance.com, I believe, they are Dodge hot rodders).
