What can go wrong?

Dear All

I am the owner of a 2006 Jeep Cherokee in Dubai. I am approaching the end of my 3 year / 60,000 Km warranty. I have been offered a 1 year extension to 125,000 Km for 1,300 USD or a 2 year extension to 150,000 Km for 1,500 USD. The warranty covers most things (brakes, steering, suspension, gearbox, engine, electrics and so on) except "oil leaks and rubber parts".

I have had no problems to date other than the AC compressor failing.

My question is does the vehicle typically have any costly flawes that are likely to justify this additional expense?

I will probably sell the car in 6 months and don't anticpate the cost of the warranty can be justified in the resale value.

Thanks in advance.

Adam

Warranties are a tough call. Great to have if you need it but if you are selling it in 6 months as you said, then you would be buying (paying for) a 1 year warranty for the 6 months. Also, if you did have a repair in that 6 month period it would have to exceed the warranty cost for you to be behind the 8 ball so to speak. So if it were me I wouldn't get it. That is just my opinion.
