Guys, I'm not bs'ing but it made a world of difference in the
"get-up-and-go" of the guttless 3.7 engine. I finally don't
even have to use first gear to get it moving (manual tranny).

The ride is also better... I did take it to the local dealership
and they reset the computer to the new size of tire...

I had the VERY same problem with a 86 Isuzu Trooper I once
had. Got the overgrown tires off it real soon after I got it and
put factory size back on. Again, it ran MUCH MUCH better.. I
also must admit, that 86 was a lot better built 4X4 than the
Liberty could ever hope to be, hands down.

Anyway, end of story for me... I now *like* the Liberty more
now than when I first bought it... I hope to keep it a while..
Also have to now.. I just installed a "Road Master" front end
tow system on it so I can take it along with my motor home.
They don't give them away either.. lol
Glad that is working out for you.

3 tenths of an inch diameter difference between the 2 sizes (215/75/16, 235/70/16) hardly constitutes the pharse "oversized tires", and not enough difference to make your Liberty run like a dog. You have gained a whole 8 revolutions per mile by changing sizes. Are you sure you hadn't been driving around with your emergency brake partially engaged or maybe sticking, it's been knowned to happen?

235/70/16's (29'' tire) came standard on my 2004 Liberty Limited Edition.

i hate to be the one to flame this guy but, if you really hate your liberty, sell it, take the money and buy a "superior 4X4". I personally think MY liberty is the best jeep i've ever bought, it goes anywhere, and does anything. not to sound like a jeep commercial.
