Swapping NP231 to NP242 with manual trans

So I am always into learning new stuff. When it comes to these KJ's I don't know a whole lot of facts yet. I've been using search button all morning doing some research but haven't quite found all the info I have been looking for yet.

So with that said what I have found is that the NP242 was a hard option to find behind the 6spd manual but was an option. Correct me if I'm wrong though. What is the output spline on the 6spd and what is the input spline on the NP242. I'm sure there are quite a few different options. Length wise are the NP231 and the NP242 the same lengths?

Curiosity is killing the cat lol.

The 242 select trac was never offered(or built) behind any manual trans in a KJ or KK.Odd driving characteristics when in full time 4wd and having a manual is why it was never offered together.

The 242 is also a different length then the 231.Not sure about the output splines on the manuals, maybe different then then auto's.

Not sure what you would hope to gain with the 242, other than you gain full time 4wd at the cost of durability. In snow, fulltime does work better, however not enough to be worth the trouble if you ask me.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not actually looking to do a swap I was just curious to see what works and what doesn't work.
