Suspension Lift + Body Lift

Sorry im a newbie - i got my renegade about a week ago and I've got some questions for anyone who can help, please bear with me lol

Ok, it is my understanding that with a "body lift" you recieve no net increase in height from the underbody to the ground - if this is true why would one buy a body lift? Only for looks?

It is also my understanding that when getting a suspension lift you recieve a higher center of gravity and steering and handling, as well as the rollover factor are changed.

SO assuming this is correct, I'm looking for a nice lift on my liberty - nothing too drastic - with some bigger tires while keeping the stock rims which i LOVE, anybody have any suggestions on what combination lift / wheels i should get while keeping the stock rims? 2.5 Inch lifts seem popular, would a 2.5 inch lift with 31's on the stock rims work giving me a lil more ground clearance and not affecting the handling of the car much? Please help. Thanks.

Hope this helps

Sorry but we can not get a body lift for the KJ. It is a unibody so the frame and the body are all made from sheetmetal as one unit. The 2.5 in lift is the only thing that is on the market right now for the KJ and the 2.5 is just right to keep from the CV joint angles from being too much. There are a couple of other vendors that are in the works with some larger lift and they are built around the cradle lifts like the Toyotas and Chevy trucks. The 2.5 works great and fills a lot of needs. if I had to guess...i would say the other lifts will not hit the market for another 6 months and will run around $1500 and up. hope this helps. later...Clint

Do NOT get the "OTT" lift..

there are a couple of vendors out there that sell this one..
It is the full 2.5" lift..
It tears your Liberty apart..

If money is a concern, get the RockyRoadOutfitters COMBO lift.. (2 1/4") .. this one is 199.00

If money is not a concern, get the DayStar COMBO lift.. (2")
this one is about 325.00

I have had my RRO COMBO lift on for over 1 1/2 years now and have had NO problems with it..
I have not heard of anyone having problems with it..

Or as Clint mentioned, you can spend a LOT more money if you want..

In relation to Wranglers, a body lift allows you to run larger tires, and because of that would give some extra clearance. Say you have a Wrangler with stock 29" tires, you could put on a 2" body lift, run 31" or 32" tires, and get an inch to an inch and a half higher off the ground because of it.

I know this doesn't really help with the Liberty, but thought I'd answer it anyway.

how much are you willing on spending on a lift? you can get the 2.5" Daystar for $150 plus new shocks or for $650 you can get a complete Old Man Emu (OME) lift and you should get about the same amount of lift plus a better ride and better handling

My wife had a liberty with the rocky road outfitters 2 1/4" kit on it and it was great. I had no complaints with it. It was easy to put on and looked great. I ran 15x8 wheels and 30x9.5x15's on it and had plenty of clearance. 31's would have fit nicely too. Sorry it is long gone or I would send you a pic of it.
