steering wheel squeak in hot weather

My steering wheel squeak....a rotating irritating squeak while turning the steering wheel in hot weather....is back. I knew it would come back in May, and will probably last til September. It is kind of annoying. Anyone else have this irritating problem????????
Where's that can of WD-40 when you need it.... Damn good thing I don't live in Arizona or Hawaii!

Do you notice the squeaking when the turn signal is on, off, or both? The reason why I ask is because other people have complained about a squeaking steering wheel and pinpointed the problem to a faulty turn signal indicator. For some unknown reason, I think it is also related to the weather. My squeaks, but it doesn't really bother me enough to spend more time at the dealership.

turn signal on or off

it squeaks with the turn signal off, for the most part. I notice it most when I'm backing up from a parking spot, or going very slowly and turning. It ONLY happens in hot weather, and often subsides or disappears after the airconditioning runs for awhile. You're right about one thing, spending time at the dealership is probably not something I want to do about this. I'm also worried that they might mess something else up trying to fix it. It's probably best to leave things alone, but never the less, it IS annoying!

Steering squeak

Mine squeaks too .... from May till October up here in Canada.

It kinda bugs me too ... but the squeak tells me warm weather is here.

I love my Jeep ... with or without the squeak eh?

I have the same squeak you guys are mentioning.

I believe this noise is caused by the clock spring - I could have sworn that I saw a TSB some time ago, but I haven't made it to the dealership (it's not thaaaaat irritating... ;-) )

May have been related to: TSB 08-010-01 Airbag/Clock Spring - Service...

I don't know if it's a clockspring mechanism or not. Usually that has a clicking noise to it. This is a squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak as you rotate the steering wheel in hot weather only.
