Spare gas can carrier
I was reviewing posts on a Jeep Liberty board last week and I saw a post about someone who fabricated a new mount, off an extended hitch insert, with two pivoting swing arms to hold a Jerry can on either side of the spare tire. It allowed the arms to be pivoted down and then you could open the tailgate. It was late when I was reviewing it and I didn't save the link, with the diagrams on how to build it. Has anyone else seen this and can you refer me to the link for it?

I have seen one, but it came off the spare tire mount, not off the extender. I think it was on Jeepsunlimited.com forum, but I will try and find out because I liked the look and am thinking of makeing one, but out of aluminum to keep it light.

O, and if you read his PDF drawing carefully, we owe him a good beer if we use his design, so I am going to be polite and ask about using it first, but I think I will change a few things, like have the cans mount to the door, just got to find out how much weight the door is rated for!!!

Well, he's got two designs on his webpage. He handed out the printed plans at our club bar-b-q for free. It is a very, very nice set up, very simple yet professional looking. He needed it because he makes a run down to a place in Mexico for weekend getaways. It is like 75 miles in and 75 miles out with no gas inbetween. Getting less than 15 mpg and we would all probably start fabbing something up. But he did a great job for us already. Anything else and you might want to send him an e-mail. Hope this helps.
